Piccolo Wins Rare Sydney Royal Gold Medal on Debut

A Piccolo entry from Sydney has won one of just three gold medals awarded for Coffee at the Sydney Royal Fine Food competition run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) at its home, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park.

It is the first time Piccolo had been a nominated class in the Coffee section of the Sydney Royal Fine Food competition’s Summer Series. Like all such competitions, the entry classes are reviewed each year to be in line with industry and consumer tastes.

Freshfood Corporation Pty Ltd at Concord has won gold for it’s the House of Robert Timms – Fairtrade entry in the Piccolo – Blend class.

Gold Medals were also awarded to Dandelion and Driftwood from Hendra in Queensland for its Wolff Coffee Roasters entry in the Latté, Blend class and Beanroasters, Fyshwick, ACT for its Beanroasters Colombia Castillo entry in the Latté, Single Origin section.

In all 343 coffee entries were received from 64 exhibitors across Espresso, Latté, Plunger, Decaf and Piccolo categories, with a 10% increase on the 2017 competition.

All results for the Sydney Royal Wine, Dairy and Fine Food competitions in the above categories can be found here:
